Andi Climax
MC Workshop
When: 6th September 2025
Where: The Spot Perth, Leederville
Time: 10:00 - 11:30 am
Cost: $40
What to bring/wear: Comfortable clothes. Water bottle. Pen and Paper
Course description:
So, you want to MC... to host a show? You're good at talking, right? And your mates think you're funny. Is that it? Is that all there is to it?
MCs can make or make awkward a cabaret show. They set the tone, set the mood, quiet the crowd, and start them cheering. They also keep the show running... to time... fill in the dead air so the audience has no idea the drag queen was late and keep everyone safe (emotionally, physically, and consentually). Hosting is so much more than a quick wit (although that is needed).
Andi Climax (they/them) is from Gadigal Land and has over 20 years of hosting experience, with 11 of those years spent in cabaret. They know how to read a crowd and command a space, making sure the audience feel safe and have a great time. Andi is the official host of Oz ComicCon, has been an MC of the Commonwealth Games, and Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras.
They are also an inclusion consultant and believe in creating inclusive spaces for all.
Andi will teach you the art of the MC... and it's so much more than reading off a clipboard.

All the way feom Gadigal Land, Andi Climax has been tickling and teasing for over a decade in the Australian cabaret scene. They are a singer, MC, drag clown and your grandma's crush. Don't let the name fool you, lay a towel down and make some noise for Andi Climax.

We will focus on the differences to consider when on a stage vs a roving environment, planning your routines, improvisation skills, adaptable choreography and how to captivate the room no matter where you are performing. At the end of the workshop you will have learnt all the tricks you need to know to deliver unbelievable close-up burlesque magic!!!
WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE DAY?
